Description of the cold store air curtains for Vriesoord
In order to reduce the energy cost of transport, Den Bosch-based Vriesoord opted to install high-pressure air curtains in her high-traffic cold stores. These are AFIM®-brand cold store air curtains. The high-pressure cold store air curtains where delivered and installed by the Dutch company Air In Motion. The unique functioning of this high-pressure cold store air curtains (AFIM® Air Doors) not only prevents condensation and ice formation, but also considerably reduces energy consumption. Vriesoord especially values this last matter.
Benefits cold store air curtains for Vriesoord
The advantage of a high-pressure air curtain in a cold store is that it opens up the field of view and thus creates free passage for transport. Due to the often very fast turnaround times and the high volume of transport taking place at Vriesoord, a strip curtain or high-speed door is not a viable solution. Furthermore, the cold store air curtains allow for the cold storage temperature to be maintained despite the fact that the door remains open for transport. This strongly reduces the frequency at which the evaporators have to defrost, which not only brings practical benefits but also considerably reduces energy consumption.
