In order to reduce the energy cost of transport to and from its cold stores, Poeldijk-based MJ Pronk has opted to install a cold store air curtain at the high-traffic passageways to its cold storage in Poeldijk (The Netherlands). These cold store air curtain were delivered and installed by the company Air In Motion. Due to the unique functioning of the cold store air curtain (AFIM® Air Door), the company saves on maintenance and repair (a cold store air curtain cannot be crashed into, after all). Besides a reduction in maintenance, damage and repair costs, there is also a considerably reduction in energy consumption.

The advantage of a cold store air curtain in a cold storage is that it opens up the field of view and thus creates free passage for transport. Due to the high volume of transport taking place at MJ Pronk, cold store air curtain were the solution of choice. By using a cold store air curtain, the cold storage temperature is maintained despite the doors remaining open indefinitely.
